Meet Noise, the latest band out of LA’s legendary punk rock distillery. With a ferocious minimalism and an inventive addition of synths, Noise breathes some new life into its 90’s influences. Their first single is the aggressively catchy “Pancakes and Rollerskates.”

Singer Victor Mackey’s mumble-at-the-top-of-your-lungs is destined to launch a million Cobain references, but there are worse people to be compared to. The rest of the band has an unexpected exuberance, poking holes in the inevitable downer of retro grunge. They race through the song with a lo-fi garage charm as if they can barely keep up. The territory between punk and post-punk is well worn, and it points to a long life that Noise has already carved out their own slice.

“Pancakes and Rollerskates” is currently free to download from the band’s Reverbnation player above.
