Brother/sister duo Wardell sounds like something awesome straight from the ‘60s. Their summery California songs are filled with the melancholic tones of Sasha Spielberg’s vocals over the drums, bass and piano that’s played by her brother Theo. Wardell is actually Theo’s middle name, and the nickname of the siblings’ mother, actress Kate Capshaw.

Before releasing their debut project The Brother/Sister EP, the Los Angeles-natives played the South by Southwest music festival early this year in Austin, Texas. As the children of Oscar-award winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg, talent and creativity surrounds the two. Theo is a multi-instrumentalist who learned to compose music at an early age, and Sasha reportedly sold a her television pilot “Girls Without Boys” to the ABC network.

Slowly but surely, the Spielbergs have been grabbing the attention of many, especially hip-hop mogul Jay Z, who recently signed them to his Roc Nation label.

In 2014, the two is set to release their debut studio album.
