free illustration novel: ‘down with monsters: a spartan buddha fairytale’

October 18, 2013

Zeph David created the book of literary awesomeness that is Down With Monsters: A Spartan Buddha Fairytale. Right now you’re either thinking, “What the hell? Sounds awesome,” or just “What the hell?” Both reactions are fine, and the name is clever enough to get anyone’s attention.

Down With Monsters is an extension of David’s webcomic Spartan Buddha, about a “violent, sarcastic philosopher that fights monsters.” This series tells the story of a warlord named Octavius, whose life is filled with all the material things that one could ever want, but that’s not enough for him. You get to travel with Mr. “I have it all” on his misadventures as he looks for peace and happiness. Oh, and he has to deal with those darn monsters, too.

But aside from the bizarre mixture of people, monsters and enlightenment, this 200+ page book is filled with insanely, awesome and graphic black and white illustrations and was born from the author’s love of philosophy and modern art.

This book is available in paperback on Amazon, or can be downloaded for FREE from the author’s website here.
