#soundcheck x afropunk fest 2012 – check out new music from toro y moi
The absurdly prolific Chaz Bundick, better known to the world as Toro Y Moi, has somehow found time between Lollapalooza, a collaboration with Tyler the Creator, releasing a series of 7 inches in April, and of course Afropunk Fest 2012 to work on new material. Apparently already at work on Toro Y Moi’s next album, Bundick and band debuted a handful of new songs at Lollapalooza last week.
The new track “Rose Quartz” is more eminently danceable than previous Toro Y Moi, but it maintains his love of unusual arrangements and mutated synth lines. Chaz’s dance alias Les Sins just signed to Caribou records and there’s more than a little of Les Sins in “Rose Quartz.” He also recently snuck in a few new tracks in his mix for BTS radio, debuting the Les Sins track “Fetch” alongside the Toro Y Moi track “Hood Dreams.” Check out both below.
And make sure you check out Toro Y Moi at Afropunk Fest 2012. It’s a little more than a week away, so there’s still time for Chaz to write and record at least 3 more albums of material to debut at the festival.
