French Tennis Federation president Bernard Giudicelli spoke to Tennis Magazine for their 500th edition, and the man went out of his way to single out the ‘Black Panther’ catsuit Serena Williams wore at this year’s French Open. While explaining why he wants players to wear more conservative outfits, he said:

“I believe we have sometimes gone too far. Serena’s outfit this year, for example, would no longer be accepted. You have to respect the game and the place.”

For Serena Williams, her “Wakanda-inspired catsuit” was not only “an opportunity to inspire a whole different group of amazing women and kids”, but also a skin-tight tool designed to protect her against blood clots, following medical complications she suffered after the birth of her daughter.

Williams has not officially responded to Giudicelli’s ridiculous remarks. What exactly did he find disrespectful? Was the outfit “too Black” for him? Can he not stand the sight of a Black woman’s curves? Stay tuned for the next episode of ‘White Nonsense: Unhinged’.
