Sigh. If it’s not Permit Patty calling the police on a 8-year-old black girl selling water, or this asshole throwing the belongings of a homeless man into the river or BBQ Becky herself calling the police on black people barbecuing then it’s a million other situations because racist white (often gentrifying) people don’t know how to act AT ALL!

Vicktor Stevenson, owner of a San Francisco lemonade stand ‘Gourmonade’, had the cops called on him while opening up his gourmet lemonade business situated in Mission District. The (four) officers had him remove his arm from his coat (to show he wasn’t a threat) and ran his ID, something Stevenson had an issue with but said he understood when taking the officers’ point of view into account. Stevenson believes that the phone call, “had to be” racially motivated. “I could be wrong but I’m almost 1000% sure this was racially inspired.”

“As a grown man, when four men approach you with weapons, and you don’t have anything to protect yourself, you feel vulnerable and kind of disrespected, so that’s my only hangup. Other than that, they did their job,” Stevenson told CNN.

Stevenson also added that since the incident, sales have gone through the roof and he has received an outpouring of love and support from social media. “For me, the success isn’t in the sales, the success is in just being here and taking my vision and making it a real thing.” If the black community and black twitter know how to do one thing, it’s rally behind a cause that is dear, and nothing is more dear than allowing our people to shine as well as stopping the brutal policing and murder of black bodies for next to reason at all.

What's up every body! I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone for all of the calls , texts, dm's and show of support and love on social media. I'm going about my day working at the barbershop and staying focused. What Happened today isn't nothing new to me and I just hope people can see and understand that Racism is real and alive. You can't make this stuff up. I just thank God that I'm able to go home to my wife and son in one piece as we all have seen how these things play out every.single.day. I'm going to continue to make my product with love and hopefully that will put a smile on someone's face and put love in their heart also. Making the world a better place one Gourmonade at a time. Shazaam!

Calling the police is a tried and true tactic white people have used to regulate black bodies. When they encounter black people doing ANYTHING (even in neighborhoods where black people predominantly reside) they lose their white minds and escalate a situation by involving law enforcement, knowing the history of police brutalizing black bodies. If they’re calling the police on black bodies for trivial reasons in this climate of police brutality, then they know that the 5.0 are a tool of whiteness that will likely side with them.

Shout out to Stevenson for being so cool about the situation (even though he shouldn’t have to be) because he is showing us the epitome of turning lemons into Gourmonade!
