Award-winning author/illustrator Rashad Malik Davis’s “Carefree, Like Me!” is the second installment in his children’s book series dedicated to helping improve childhood emotional literacy and spirituality. An important, not to mention beautifully produced project, Carefree, Like Me! was written for all children, but especially little boys who find themselves emotionally stifled by the emotional and, really, humanistic limitations society places on boys and men. Story-wise, “Carefree, Like Me!” features a diverse cast of characters who are racially representative of POC and is set to the backdrop of Ancient Aztec civilizations and their incredible ties to modern Mexican/Chicano/Xicano/Indigenous cultures.
