A celebration of skin, smiles, and blackness, “RECLAIM” is a visual collaboration between the Black Students League (BSL) of Haverford College. Centered around the beauty of black skin and black bodies across the African diaspora, the beauty that has been objectified, held in bondage, and subject to brutality. In a response to this historical ugliness, BSL presents this series to reclaim the black body and promote pride, love, gratitude, and self-acceptance. Presented as a multimedia exhibition included a tradition runway fashion show, photography exhibit, a short film series, dance performances and spoken word. The hopes for these students are to bring similar projects to Black students at predominately white institutions.
