About this short film directed by Jason Bergh for a series called Subject60, artist Selema ‘Sal’ Masekela says: “I was handed an envelope and red tape without knowledge of the envelopes content while the camera was already rolling. The result was me walking around town in a somewhat trance communing with the humanity of names and faces of young black men we only know as hashtags. It is hard to describe the emotional state that simply touching these pictures put me in. Jason and I didn’t utter one word to each other during the hour or so of shooting this piece. • Artist – Sweet Honey In The Rock • Song – ‘Eyes On The Prize’ SOUND UP”. Filmed by Jason Bergh and Jennifer Rovero.
Inspired by one of the director’s dreams, the short film features Selema Masekela walking around his neighborhood posting photos of young men of color who’ve been killed by law enforcement.
