You’ve at least window shopped the awesomeness that is Jaque Aye’s magical black girl brand Adorned by Chi, and now you can read the graphic novel! Inspired by the classic 90s manga series, Sailor Moon, “Adorned by Chi: The Graphic Novel” is a unique take on magical girlhood that interweaves Igbo mythology with the playfulness of anime. Set in Nigeria, the graphic novel follows five students who must come together, cultivate their powers, and defeat the ancient apocalyptic monster (the Nothing) to save all of humanity.

Teaming up with our friend, “Hair Nah” game creator MomoPixel, Eman the Heartbreak, and Krystal Gem for the project’s soundtrack and illustrator Brittney Galloway for visuals, the crew hopes to produce a multimedia project complete with a physical graphic novel, digital chapter installments, animated videos, music, and more. They are well on their way, but if you want to help the Adorned by Chi team reach their support goals for the project or learn more information about it, check out their Kickstarter, ASAP!
