Teaming up with photographer Shawn Theodore, journalist Sofiya Ballin is releasing the third installment of Black History Untold, a annual project highlighting 30 Black activists who are changing the world.

Previous installments celebrated actor/activist Jesse Williams, MC Black Thought, professor and CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill, Senator Cory Booker, singer-songwriter Jazmine Sullivan, poet Sonia Sanchez, Philadelphia Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins and youth activist Marley Dias, among others.

This year’s installment features the likes of singer Estelle and activist Deray McKesson, and differs from those of the past because it solicits viewer participation. Participants are asked to share what the future of Blackness looks like for them, and how we get there, bridging the dreams of the past with our future.

Throughout Black History Month, you can find a new activist highlighted on Instagram @blackhistoryuntold and Twitter @blkuntold. Check out the first part of the series here!
