It’s no secret that funk and hip-hop come from the same Black legacy, so funk legend George Clinton’s musical tastes should come as no surprise. In 2016, he compared Kendrick Lamar to Prince, telling Pigeons & Planes, “The only other person I’ve seen do it like (Lamar) before is Prince!”

Now, the 76-year-old is praising another rap star, and another style of rap. During a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), a fan asked what music Clinton is listening to these days, and he replied, “Flying Lotus, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z’s new album, Tra’Zae, and all that shit coming out of Atlanta. All that trap shit. I’m trapped in it.”

But that wasn’t all he had to say about the Bronx rising star. When asked whom he would like to work with, Clinton replied, “I’d like to work with Cardi B. She’s got the funk.”

Does that mean we’re getting a George Clinton / Cardi B collab in the future?! A girl can dream!
