‘chewing gum’ is coming back for a 3rd season after all!

A few months ago, we had the misfortune of bringing you the depressing news that Michaela Coel’s hit Netflix show, Chewing Gum, wasn’t returning for a season 3.

Well, sike!

Looks like the information was sort of lost in translation, according to a series of tweets by Coel herself. On November 10th, the actress clarified that she never said she had no plans for a third season of the series, and attributed the miscommunication to the way things are done differently in Hollywood than in the UK, where the show is filmed.

Okay SO: I never spoke to anyone, (no channel no journalist) about there not being a season 3, I learned the news the same guys you did, same shock! I was offered other opportunities way before I was offered a 3rd season, I took them because I don’t like being unemployed

When asked by a fan, “So, season 3?” she responds, “YAS sis”.

We’re not quite sure what took them so long to figure this out, but we’re here for it! We’re also not sure when it will come back, but in the meantime you can catch Michaela on next season of Black Mirror as well as the musical Been So Long.
