Who says black people don’t do dairy? (My IBS, that’s who!) But whatever! Gelato is hands-down the best frozen dessert and the folks at Nelwa’s Gelato know it. Based in Tanzania, the gelateria incorporates the fresh flavors of the region like lavender, baobab and cinnamon and other locally sourced ingredients into their frozen desserts. In addition to crafting their own versions of classic flavors like cookies-n-cream and strawberry, the crew at Nelwa also does a nice bit of traditional flavors as well, like Ukwaju, ubuyu, fenesi, iliki, mdalasini, tikiti maji, bungo, mchaicha.
