Sheena C. Howard is an Associate Professor of Communication at Rider University and the first Black woman to win an Eisner Award for her 2014 co-edited book, Black Comics: Politics of Race and Representation. Her latest project, Encyclopedia of Black Comics, is a comprehensive reference including full color excerpts of comics and entries for over 100 publishers and creators, including inkers, illustrators, writers, Black comic historians, convention creators and website founders.

Featuring a forward by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and an afterword by Christopher Priest, Encyclopedia of Black Comics is a celebration of the many people who have made Black comic culture what it is today.
