Last night’s Emmys certainly felt the most inclusive they’ve been in many, many years, not only in attendees but also in the nominee pool. There were several ‘firsts’ for black creatives last night, like Master of None’s Lena Waithe win for best comedy writing and Atlanta’s Donald Glover’s win for best comedic director! The only Doland we acknowledge took home the gold miniature of RuPaul (lol) and made history as the first black director to win the Emmy for their directorial work on a comedy series.

The “Redbone” singer also took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for ‘Atlanta’
