New Orleans has always been the vanguard for music pioneers, and this is no less true for homegrown, up-and-coming alternative R&B/soul singer Ambré Perkins. At 17, Ambré met producer and engineer Erick Bardales, and the two created the well-received mixtape Wanderlust together in 2015. Though her sound transcends boundaries, Ambré’s music has drawn comparison to SZA, Jhene Aiko, and Kehlani, famously collaborating with the latter on the remix of “PREACH” before touring together as part of Kehlani’s “You Should Be Here” tour.

Shortly after, Ambré started on her second mixtape 2090’s, which was released in 2016 to critical acclaim. Now she’s back with a new project, the nostalgically feel-good track “Must Be The Fall”. Over ethereal melodies, the song shows off Ambré’s mesmerizing vocals as she croons about a lover’s timelessness.

“My vision for this song was to capture a feeling of nostalgia,” says Ambré.

“One of those old songs that people dance to at family reunions and things like that. Something fun and funky for people who may be missing that particular sound, to listen to. A jukebox joint. Soul train vibes, haha. I just hope people get a feeling of joy from it and sing their hearts out.”
