Director Ava DuVernay is continuing to make waves in the fantasy world. The ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ director—alongside Charles D. King, and Victoria Mahoney is slated to adapted Afro-futurism pioneer Octavia Spencer’s 1987 novel “Dawn” into a tv series! The novel, which follows an African American woman who works with aliens in an attempt to resurrect the human race, 250 years after a nuclear war has wiped most of us out.

“Dawn” is the first book in a trilogy called “Lilith’s Brood” where Butler’s prolific explorations of race, gender, and power are viewed through a lens of caution and wariness of human moral weakness and corruption.
