video premiere: electro-soul rockers kissing electric featuring vocalist brenda nicole moorer debut hypnotizing visual for seductive single “drifting”

March 14, 2016

Kissing Electric is an afro-electric soul band based in Atlanta comprised of drummer Che Marshall, guitarist Trevor Wolford on guitar, bassist Evan Hodges, and featuring vocalist Brenda Nicole Moorer. The video and lead single from their upcoming self-titled EP “Drifting” is an atmospheric, accessible but avant-garde adventure into electro-soul. Avant-garde lite, if you will. “Brenda wrote the lyrics and melody for the song and is a very emotive writer, we wanted that to come across in the visuals as well[…]it’s an atmospheric electronic jazz number where soulful breathy vocals seduce and reach for the spiritual, with a persistent but unpredictable path,” the band tells AFROPUNK.

Done up in Jem and the Holograms-like face pain, Moorer moves in front of a swirling black and white backdrop which occasionally bursts into bright fuchsia as the song intensifies. “We wanted to portray visual emotion of the music in color. The way ink moves inside water seemed the best way to interpret the visual core of “Drifting””.
