DNA tests link all humans to East Africa

December 6, 2010

National Geographic set up a DNA testing site one day in Queens, NY, where they sampled hundreds of people of different nationalities and genders to trace their ancestral history. What they discovered shocked most participants– based on their findings, regardless of nationality or religion, all of us can trace our ancient origin back to the cradle of humanity, East Africa. Apparently, all of our ancestors just took different paths around the world over thousands of years. According to their findings, one of the last destinations humans traveled was to Northern Europe, while East Africa is where every person’s DNA that was tested traced back to. Their findings also showed that everyone shared 99.9 percent of the same DNA. Basically, humans only have a single point one percent DNA difference. These findings can mean different things to different people, but this only goes to further prove that we’re all basically the same and the concept of race has no definitive meaning. Their documentary, The Human Family Tree, will be airing again on Friday, Dec. 10th at 12P. Check it out, open the discussion, and let us know what these video clips mean to you.
